MIIYOO
Miiyoo is a South African artist based in Hout Bay, Cape Town. Four series, seventy-three works — all on one rack.

Meet the artist
My work is a fusion of old school drama comic strips, like Modesty Blaise, graphic novel and pop art. I draw inspiration from life's storytelling and attempt to weave narratives that capture the essence of day-to-day life, experiences, nostalgia, personal experiences, exchanges and writing, while at the same time exploring contemporary themes in pursuit of visual tales. With this in mind I want to establish a rapport with audiences that have their own stories fostering a shared sense of nostalgia and connection.
I refer to my medium as mixed media digital, layered elements comprise of textured snaps from my mobile phone and even dabs of mascara from my wife's makeup bag combined with a collection of dirty brushes.
Represented by Galerie DNK (Europe), YOU&I Gallery (South Africa) and Miso Modern (Dubai & Middle East).
This is a series of faces, but not just likenesses.
They are moments.
Glimpses of emotion, vulnerability, rebellion, and resilience. These are the snapshots of what it means to be us. Each piece is a visual confession, stripped of polish but full of story. It's not about perfection — it's about recognition. You've felt this. You've been here. –Miiyoo
To gently misbehave within the borders of a magazine cover and where beauty, cars and desire collide to parody consumer culture
One flight of green steps. One red dress. Ten covers that were never printed.
She is styled for the shot and undone by it — mascara gone, shoes in her hand, still holding the pose the camera asked for.
Each issue names the thing we sell her. Beauty. Perfection. Seduction. Temptation. The cover line is the lie; the stairwell is where she waits it out.
He is both familiar and unknowable.
A myth stitched into the fabric somewhere between the street and life itself.
A mirror, he is you and me. We wear his flickering personas. He is every moment we've felt or nothing at all. This is Glitch...
